The Ethical Consumer Group's screen for commercial advertising is based on the following criteria:

  • organisations that have praises and no criticisms from our selected sources ('tick' rating)
  • organisations that are not multinational
  • A focus on small organisations promoting sustainable practices and / or products
  • A focus on Australian owned organisations

The rational is that we focus on and promote the presence of small companies with good track record and products with positive features, rather than than the few big ones who already have marketing power.

Traffic

(April 2010)

  • Our website presently averages 300 - 400 hits per day
  • We have sold over 60,000 copies of our print booklet "Guide to Ethical Supermarket Shopping", edition 1, 2 & 3
  • We have sold 16,000 copies of the 2010 edition since Feb. 15, 2010
  • We have sold over 2,000 Ethical Shopper i-phone apps since Feb. 15, 2010
  • We have over 2,500 products in our database
  • We conducted over 60 workshops on Ethical Purchasing/Shopping in 2009

All of these sales and activities bring people to our website - people who are actively interested in purchasing ethical products. Also, we keep our product information up to date, as well as information regarding number of hits to the website, number of clicks taking people to your website, and Guide sales. Many individual people and not for profit groups use our website regularly as a reference.

We have two offers available:

Standard Banner

  • available in one of 3 sizes (with corresponding prices)
  • either LHS margin or RHS margin
  • shown on all pages, except homepage and product comparison pages
  • your banner loads randomly with a maximum of 2 other ads – so on average, one in 3 pageloads will include your ad

Premium Banner

  • standard banner offer, plus your ad will appear on every product comparison page in the category of your choice. (see categories below).

File Types: JPG, GIF, Animated GIF, Flash (SWF).

File Size: It is in your own interests to make your banner files as small as possible while maintaining acceptable quality. A fast loading banner is a good banner. We maintain the right to re-optimise images if we deem them excessively oversize.
