Dick Smith Foods does not manufacture its own products. All their products are made in Australia by Australian owned companies. The licencing rights were owned by Sanitarium from 2002 - 2007, and then The Green Group took over the licence for another five years. Dick Smith himself took back control of the company in 2012. In 2018 Smith announced he would wind down the company.

This company lost a trademark dispute in Feb 2014 when Intellectual Property (IP) Australia ruled that the family-owned AussieMite company owns the brand on the black yeast spread, rejecting Dick Smith's take on the name, OzEmite. Dick Smith is appealing the decision.
