Kraft Foods was spun off from parent company Altria in March 2007, and is now
an independent publicly held company. The Altria Group and subsidiaries had
been subject to an international Boycott from 1993 due to another of their subsidiaries
being Philip Morris, the largest tobacco company in the world.
This means Kraft Foods (and subsidiary Kraft Foods Australia) no longer receive the "boycott call" but retain their 'cross' due to criticisms of: 'poor wages for coffee farmers' (Oxfam International Make Trade Fair 'Stir it up!' campaign); and 'broad use of genetically engineered crops' (www.krafty.org).
