Metcash moves
Metcash, which operates the IGA supermarket chain, is reportedly considering buying some pubs and poker machines and joining Coles and Woolworths in the pokies business. The move follows a strategic review and a $375m equity raising venture, part of which is being used to fund the recent acquisition of 75% of Autobarn operator Automotive Brands Group, and the purchase of the 49.9% of Mitre 10 it doesn’t already own.
